Twenty years ago, the owners of 14 châteaux in southern Burgundy founded the Route des Châteaux association to raise awareness of their heritage steeped in history and to share their passion for these extraordinary places, which they are committed to keeping alive and open to the public.
Set amidst magnificent landscapes and gardens, fourteen medieval fortresses and châteaux from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical periods, listed or designated as Historic Monuments, offer a showcase of French art and a glimpse into the historical past of Burgundy, a land of exchange and culture.
